I never saw what was so great about this movie. I was 13 when it came out (and probably 14 by the time I saw it on video) and thought all the pre-publicity hype about how it was so groundbreaking that humans would be interacting with animated characters ridiculous because it had been accomplished in the kiddie TV commercials I had grown up watching for years! It's interesting that the host of this documentary even mentions that it had been done before. I also found Roger's blubbering trepidation annoying, and as much as I love Reubens, it doesn't look like his portrayal would've changed that. I do like the character design much better then what was eventually released because it's more cartoonlike and less realistic. Although Roger looks like a bad imitation of the Trix rabbit, I much prefer Jessica's Cruella de Vil-like facial expressions and the police captain's scowl to the eventual finished product.
