Interestingly, his 1987 youth-oriented tome Dee Snider's Teenage Survival Guide (my copy is a used, rebound one from the Dallas Public Library purchased at one of its used book sales, so it will probably never command the hundreds of dollars Snider claims used ones are sold for on the Internet) explained away his father's autocratic behavior as a side effect of being a stressed-out parent working two jobs to support his family, he now writes that his father's discipline was the inspiration for Mark Metcalf's performance in the classic video for the band's biggest hit "We're Not Gonna Take It."
My only complaint about the book is that it rushes through his post-Sister career, but Snider hints at a future sequel that might cover that ground. I've read many, many rock autobiographies, and this is one of the best. I recommend it to anyone with an interest in metal music or 1980s rock.
