Top Ten Things I'd Like To See In A Science Fiction Museum
1. Life-size statue of Isaac Asimov at the museum entrance.
2. Museum architecture should resemble that 1950-'60s Space Age look - think Seattle's Space Needle or The Jetsons.
3. An entire wall covered with the "pulp" magazine covers of the genre's early years.
4. ACTUAL sci-fi movie artifacts. The alien from the Alien movies that I could have my picture taken next to would be fantastic. In fact, an entire gallery devoted to its creator H.R. Giger would be even better.
5. A room devoted to inventions that were forecast in sci-fi stories (with examples of their usage) that have come to pass, along with descriptions of the ones that haven't yet, and the outlandish technology that we may never see.
6. An explorable recreation of the streets of Blade Runner.
7. Sci-fi movie poster gallery.
8. The backyard of the museum should be a playground for kids dominated by a climbable AT-AT
from The Empire Strikes Back. A replica would work fine. There should also be a half-buried Statue of Liberty model.
9. Discs of Tron re-enactment playroom for adults.
10. Guided audio museum tours narrated by either James Earl Jones or HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
